Stocks rose today, as the KBW Banking Index was up 3.62% and the KBW Regional Banking Index rose 2.58%. The S&P 500 Index was up 1.66%.

The Bank Index was led by Huntington Bancshares Incorporated, M&I, and M&T Bank, which were up 14.46%, 6.39%, and 6.37%, respectively.  Leading the Regional Banking Index higher were Colonial Bancgroup, South Financial Group, and Frontier Financial Corporation, which were up 16.67%, 13.64%, and 11.82%, respectively.
