Stocks declined today, as uncertainty surrounding the government’s economic plans continued to plague the market. The KBW Banking Index fell 5.30% and the KBW Regional Banking Index fell 3.87%. The broader S&P 500 Index was down 1.00%.

The Bank Index was led by PNC Financial Services Group, U.S. Bank, and Fifth Third Bancorp, which were down 9.24%, 9.22%, and 9.09%, respectively. Leading the Regional Banking Index lower were Pacific Capital Bancorp, Central Pacific Financial Corp., and Synovus Financial, which were down 9.62%, 8.79%, and 7.78%, respectively.
