Stocks again fell sharply today, as the KBW Banking Index fell 9.60% and the KBW Regional Banking Index fell 5.91%. The broader S&P 500 Index was down 6.71% to its lowest level since 2002.

The biggest Bank Index decliners were Citigroup, JP Morgan Chase, and Comerica Incorporated, which were down 26.41%, 17.88%, and 14.45%, respectively.  Leading the Regional Banking Index lower were Corus Bankshares, Citizens Republic Bancorp, and Sterling Financial Corporation, which were down 33.08%, 18.89%, and 17.63%, respectively.
