This position targets acquisitions of new small and medium enterprise (SME) relationships within assigned branch market areas. Develop centers of influence and international expertise to enable a focus on liabilities and cash management products. Develop effective strategies and source SME opportunities new to the Bank, referring to branch personnel as required by transaction size; focus efforts on larger, relationship managed accounts and deposits. Develop relationships with new business banking customers, including participating in joint calls with Financial Advisors, Premier Relationship Managers, Commercial Real Estate and Middle Market. Develop relationships with referral sources, such as attorneys, accountants and influential community members, to identify prospects for new business opportunities. Participate in community organizations and activities in the markets served, to enhance HSBC’s image and promote and develop additional referral sources and business. Identify opportunities to cross-sell other HSBC products and services as appropriate, ensuring their follow-up by sales personnel. Develop expertise on a given sector, such as architects or accountants, as required. Live and represent the brand; exemplify the five brand attributes of being perceptive, progressive, responsive, respectful and fair, both internally and externally. Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand. Apply compliance; maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators; adhere strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards, policies and practices; report issues and operational loss events. Abide by human resources and other HSBC policies in support of our ethical and respectful work environment. Complete other responsibilities, as assigned, including branch-related (participating in networking meetings and joint calls with business partners), client-related (completing initial business reviews and site visits for new clients) and community-related (developing and maintaining a COI base, participating in community-based business development events and call blitz and being part of a board or community group in the respective marketplace to support new business generation).
Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years proven financial industry experience, including a minimum of three years proven and progressive business development experience or equivalent, including proven sales success in business deposit and loan business and new money growth
  • Strong sales, human relations, financial, leadership, interpersonal, time management, organizational, analytical and communications skills
  • Strong customer focus orientation
  • Ability to understand and anticipate customer needs in a changing environment
